  • I've bought 5 cars in my life time and thus have been 'around-the-block' with car dealers and salesmen. The salesmen always start off pleasant and nice and tell you about the car you are test driving. Then you decide to make an offer and you do the "dickering" back and forth until you - the customer - THINK you are satisfied. You start the bidding off with the salesman and then you end up bargaining with the sales manager and then by the time all is said and done you are probably dealing with someone that has nothing to do with the sale of the car. Yep. Honestly. It's happened.

    I don't think a lot of people go in to buy a car used or new knowing exactly what they are getting themselves into. They think they want car A and then they get talked into car B for a price that really isn't in their budget or what they had hoped to get or even planned for. Been there. Done that too. 

    Today, however, was a whole different ball game. I'd sold my car out right so I had no old loan hovering above my head. I had no car to trade in or try to get a good price for. That was bonus #1 for me.

    Bonus #2 for me was that I had gone to my credit union first to get pre-approved so I had a ball park figure to work with.

    Bonus #3 was going to Willey Honda (sorry Chris that you are #3 but this is about me!) I had contacted them via email the day before about a 2011 Civic EX-L and wanted to test drive it. However, I had just sat in a 2008 model and had decided it was too small for me. So I had done a little more research and had seen they had an Accord EX-L on the lot that had all the options I was looking for. 

    Chris was right there to greet us as we were trying to just peek at the car. He was kind and courteous and knowledgeable about this car we were test driving. The price was just about right but at the time I didn't think it was good enough. So we walked away.

    And then we went to a Toyota Dealer and played "the game". The Salesman, the test drive, the dicker, the sales manager, the re-dicker, the salesman, and last the sales manager as we walked out the door. 

    Called Chris back up -- Said I want that Honda - he said OK It's yours and I am now a new owner of a 2008 Honda Accord EX-L and I'm excited to drive it places! 

    The bottom line is this: If you want a good car, at good value, at INVOICE price and not MSRP price, with nice and friendly staff that know their jobs -- WILLEY HONDA IS THE PLACE!
